You...And Your Mask
Sometimes I wish upon a star
and wonder who you really are.
You pretend to be so happy and gay,
You wear that mask everyday.
They tell you to take the mask off
But without it you'd be lost
You can't lose that precious mask
It would only make you gasp
To see what really lies behind
The mask that is worn all the time.
You'd see a life of pain and strife
but know you must have done something
to deserve this unhappy life.
You'd see a person who hurts deeply,
But is afraid to let it show
And as you glance in the mirror you will see
This person described is not you, its me.
